Story and Content Submission Agreement

Black Manayunk LLC

This agreement applies any time you submit a story, memory, photograph, letter, document, audio, video, or other material (“Submission”) to Black Manayunk through our website, submission form, email, social media, or in person, for potential use in our blog, website, social media, podcast, or archive.

By submitting your material, you agree to the following:

1. Ownership

You confirm that you own the rights to the material you’re submitting, or that you have permission from the rightful owner (for example, a family member) to share it with us. You are not submitting anyone else’s copyrighted material without their permission.

2. What You’re Granting Us

You grant Black Manayunk LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, reproduce, edit, publish, and distribute your Submission (including your name and any accompanying story or context you provide) across our website, blog, social media, podcast, printed materials, and archival collections, in whole or in part.

You retain ownership of your Submission. This agreement does not transfer copyright to us. It simply gives us permission to use what you’ve shared as part of the Black Manayunk project. You are free to share the same material elsewhere.

3. Credit

We will make reasonable efforts to credit you by name as the contributor of your Submission, unless you specifically request to remain anonymous or to be credited differently (for example, “shared by a Manayunk family” rather than your full name). Please indicate your preference at the time of submission.

4. Editorial Discretion

We may edit, excerpt, or contextualize your Submission for length, clarity, or presentation. We will make reasonable efforts to preserve the accuracy and spirit of what you’ve shared. We are not obligated to publish any Submission, and we reserve the right to decline submissions at our discretion.

5. Accuracy

You confirm that, to the best of your knowledge, the information in your Submission is accurate. You understand that personal and family memories may differ from official records or other accounts, and that Black Manayunk presents oral history and personal recollection as such, rather than as verified academic fact. We may note where a Submission reflects personal memory versus documented record.

6. No Compensation

Submissions are made voluntarily and without compensation, unless otherwise agreed to separately in writing. Black Manayunk LLC is a for-profit entity, and content built from Submissions (including blog posts, social media, and podcast episodes) may generate revenue for Black Manayunk LLC. You understand and agree that submitting your story does not entitle you to royalties or revenue share, absent a separate written agreement.

7. Archival Purpose

Because part of our mission is long-term historical preservation, your Submission may be retained and used as part of our permanent archive, including potential future transfer to or partnership with the Black Manayunk Historical Society (a nonprofit currently in development) or other historical institutions, for educational and historical purposes.

8. Sensitive or Personal Material

If your Submission includes sensitive personal or family information, please let us know at the time of submission so we can discuss appropriate handling, including options for partial anonymization or restricted use.

9. Right to Request Removal

If you later wish to request that your Submission be removed from active use, contact us at hello@blackmanayunk.com or 484-378-9108. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate such requests, though full removal from previously distributed or archived content cannot always be guaranteed.

10. Release of Claims

You release Black Manayunk LLC, its owners, employees, and affiliates from claims arising from our use of your Submission in accordance with this agreement, provided we do not intentionally misrepresent what you shared.

11. Age Confirmation

By submitting, you confirm that you are 18 years of age or older, or that you are the parent or legal guardian of a minor contributor and consent on their behalf.

12. Acknowledgment

By submitting your story or material through our submission form, email, or other channel, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to this Story and Content Submission Agreement.
